Salé

When Icelandic villagers are captured by Barbary pirates and sold into slavery in 17th-century Morocco, a mother and daughter must fight to stay alive, stay together—and ultimately choose between freedom and fate.

Set in the 17th century and based on true events of “Tyrkjaránið” (the Turk Abductions) in the summer of 1627, Salé is a story of captivity, resilience, and transformation — where questions of identity, faith, and survival feel as urgent now as they did 400 years ago.
